Kuwait keen to strengthen strategic partnership with China: Ambassador Al-Najem
Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to China Jassem Al-Najem

BEIJING, March 23: Kuwaiti Ambassador to China, Jassem Al-Najem, emphasized Kuwait's commitment to strengthening cooperation with China, particularly in the areas of economy and investment.

In a statement to KUNA, Ambassador Al-Najem highlighted that several major projects are underway between the two nations, following a visit by a delegation from the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) to Beijing. He explained that this visit builds on the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in September 2023 between KDIPA and China's Ministry of Commerce, which focuses on free trade and economic zones. The MoU was signed during the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to China.

Ambassador Al-Najem noted that the KDIPA delegation would be visiting several companies and institutions in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area, as well as meeting with key officials from China's Ministry of Commerce.

He stressed Kuwait's dedication to its strategic partnership with China, which aims to achieve mutual benefits and strengthen cooperation in various sectors. The ambassador also acknowledged the significant contributions made by Chinese companies to the economic ties between the two countries. Kuwait has launched numerous large-scale development programs and projects, and Ambassador Al-Najem welcomed the involvement of Chinese companies, recognizing their valuable experience.

Kuwait and China have signed several MoUs in 2023, including agreements on the implementation of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project. These agreements also cover various areas such as electric power, housing development, wastewater treatment, free trade and economic zones, as well as renewable energy projects and the development of low-carbon green systems for recycling waste.

Ambassador Al-Najem concluded by reaffirming Kuwait's commitment to furthering its strategic partnership with China and advancing bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
