KUWAIT CITY, July 28: The Ministry of Information has launched the "Al-Akhbar" channel, aiming to become a new beacon in Kuwaiti media and a reliable source for accurate news and information. The channel's inauguration was announced by Dr. Bader Al-Enezi, Assistant Undersecretary for News and Political Programs, in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency.
Dr. Al-Enezi highlighted the channel's commitment to engaging with local, regional, and international affairs, reflecting the impact of government decisions across various fields, and showcasing the state's development achievements. Al-Akhbar will align with Kuwait's foreign policy while addressing issues on all levels.
As an official source for state news, decisions, and positions, Al-Akhbar aims to be a platform for citizens to voice their demands and suggestions through both live and recorded media content. Dr. Al-Enezi emphasized the channel's dedication to responsible media practices, upholding professional values through objective presentation, credible information handling, and reliable news dissemination.
Currently, Al-Akhbar operates from five studios—two indoor and three outdoor—with plans to equip four additional studios in the Shuwaikh building for diverse live and recorded programs after completing all necessary arrangements.
In its initial phase, the channel will feature three main news bulletins focusing on local affairs while also covering global events in line with Kuwait's general policy. Additionally, separate bulletins on economic, sports, and weather updates will be aired at various times throughout the day. The channel aims to double its broadcast periods and introduce specialized programs in economic, sports, and social affairs.
Al-Akhbar will broadcast around the clock with over 15 programs, including live and recorded segments covering political, economic, sports, social, and other fields, along with documentary programs and dialogue shows featuring specialists.
Dr. Al-Enezi praised the Ministry's technical and editorial staff, who have proven their expertise through various event coverages, forming a highly efficient team that launched the Al-Akhbar Channel in record time. He acknowledged the challenges faced, particularly time constraints, and credited the support from Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Undersecretary Dr. Nasser Muhaisen, and colleagues across various sectors for the successful launch.
In conclusion, Dr. Al-Enezi expressed that Al-Akhbar Channel is a long-held dream and ambition for media professionals, marking the beginning of a new phase in Kuwaiti media. He emphasized that the channel's development will continue in stages, further enhancing Kuwait's media content and message.
