KUWAIT CITY, April 21: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi on Monday inaugurated the Al-Wafra Specialized Primary Healthcare Center, a new facility aimed at improving access to health services for citizens and residents, as part of the Ministry’s ongoing strategy.

In a press statement following the opening ceremony, Dr. Al-Awadhi said that the launch of the center reflects the Ministry’s commitment to expanding the reach of primary healthcare and providing high-quality specialized medical services within close proximity to residential areas. This, he noted, will help ease the burden of travel for patients and contribute to an improved quality of life, in line with Kuwait’s development vision and health sustainability goals.

The Minister emphasized the Ministry’s focus on improving healthcare accessibility, particularly in remote and underserved regions, to meet the demands of the country’s growing population and ensure comprehensive healthcare coverage across all governorates.

He highlighted that the Al-Wafra Specialized Center is a significant addition to the primary healthcare network, becoming the 26th center within the Ahmadi Health Area. Built on a 3,000-square-meter site, the facility operates seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., serving residents of Al-Wafra and neighboring areas.

The center offers a wide range of integrated medical and specialized services, including clinics for chronic disease management, ophthalmology and optics, ear, nose, and throat (ENT) care, as well as two clinics each for maternity care, dermatology, and dentistry.

Additionally, the facility houses a fully equipped medical laboratory for diagnostic testing and analysis, four nursing clinics to provide essential primary nursing care, and a dedicated emergency clinic designed to respond swiftly to urgent medical cases.

Dr. Al-Awadhi reaffirmed the Ministry's ongoing efforts to establish more model healthcare centers that adhere to the highest international standards. These efforts aim to enhance sustainable healthcare development, fulfill the preventive and therapeutic needs of the population, and ensure that comprehensive, high-quality healthcare is accessible to all.

The inauguration was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Health, including Assistant Undersecretary for Engineering Affairs and Projects Ibrahim Al-Naham, Assistant Undersecretary for Dental Affairs Dr. Ahmed Asad, Assistant Undersecretary for Primary Healthcare Affairs Dr. Nadia Al-Juma, and Director of the Al-Ahmadi Health Zone Dr. Bader Al-Otaibi.
