KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: The Kuwait men's handball team lost on Monday in front of its Iranian counterpart, scoring 26 against 27 in its second match in Group B in the main round of the 20th Asian Men's Handball Championship. In the first group competitions, the Qatari team defeated Uzbekistan by scoring 46 to 15. Later today, the Saudi team will meet its Korean counterpart in the first group competitions, while Bahrain and Iraq will meet in the second group. The competitions will continue until the 31st of this month for the World Championship 2023 Poland - Sweden hosted by Saudi Arabia.
Bahrain and Saudi Arabia managed to secure 2-point following their matches against Iraq and South Korea as the 2022 Asian Handball Championship group stages are underway as a forerunner to the upcoming 2023 Handball World Cup. In Group 1, Saudi Arabia beat South Korea 27-22 stacking up 2-points while Qatar beat Uzbekistan 46-15 to lead the Group until the final group matches take place. Bahrain and Iran qualify for the semi-final stage after beating Iraq 34-31 and Iran beating Kuwait by 1-point (27-26) and on Wednesday first spot will be sorted.
As for Group 3 and 4, the UAE has guaranteed its 9th place position as group leader awaiting to face Vietnam while Jordan will be playing India in order to secure the eleventh place qualification position. Oman leading group 4 will be facing off Hong Kong tomorrow to settle for their qualification spots as well as Singapore and Australia.
