Kuwait ministers discuss enhancing social justice and women's empowerment

KUWAIT CITY, April 8: Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah met with Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Duaij Al-Sabah to discuss ways to strengthen joint cooperation across various sectors.

In a press statement on Monday, the Ministry of Social Affairs highlighted that the meeting focused on the importance of empowering women and enhancing their roles in various fields. The discussion centered on achieving social justice and improving economic opportunities to enable women to contribute effectively to society.

During the meeting, Minister Al-Huwailah also reviewed strategies for supporting persons with disabilities and protecting their rights. She emphasized the need for integrated development policies that cater to this important segment of society.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the proposal to invite ambassadors from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to a coordination meeting, to be chaired by the Ministry of Social Affairs in Kuwait. The goal of this meeting would be to develop strategies for joint Gulf action aimed at improving social policies and ensuring social justice, particularly for women’s issues.

Additionally, the meeting underscored the importance of involving representatives from various countries, international organizations, and civil society institutions in contributing to the advancement of women’s roles in sustainable development initiatives.
