KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) refuted claims of a hacking breach on their online databases, assuring citizens and residents that such reports are baseless.

The Ministry clarified that the incident in question was a case of "phishing," where fraudulent websites imitate official government platforms to deceive users into disclosing sensitive information and making payments through unofficial channels.

MOCI emphasized the importance of relying on official government websites and the Sahel mobile application for secure transactions.

The Ministry has been actively promoting awareness campaigns against phishing and lauded the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Interior and the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) in identifying and blocking fraudulent websites to safeguard users in Kuwait from such schemes.
