Kuwait mourns loss of Yousef Mohammed Al-Nisf

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: Kuwait lost one of its most loyal figures yesterday, Yousef Mohammed Al-Nisf, who passed away at the age of over 84, after a lifetime dedicated to serving the nation and contributing to its development and modernization, reports Al- Seyassah daily. Born in 1934, Yousef Al-Nisf’s career as a national businessman was marked by several milestones through which he played an instrumental role in supporting Kuwait and its people in various positions and sectors. He briefly held a ministerial role as the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, serving from March 3 to March 14, 1985. However, he resigned after just 11 days due to his strong convictions and reformative ideas that did not align with the government’s approach at the time. The late Al-Nisf was a prominent national figure with a unique intellectual and economic path, characterized by his rejection of centralized administrative decisions and his firm belief in the need for development and reform to drive Kuwait’s progress. His life was marked by several charitable and humanitarian efforts both inside and outside Kuwait. The late Al-Nisf was known for his honesty, patriotism, wisdom, and courage - traits that earned him respect and admiration. His many national contributions and initiatives stand as a testament to his enduring legacy. The late Yousef Al-Nisf, affectionately known as “Abu Omar”, chaired the Board of Directors of Al-Qabas daily newspaper from June 2019 to May 2024, during which the newspaper experienced success. Arab Times and Al-Seyassah newspapers are deeply saddened by the loss of the late Al-Nisf, and pray that God Almighty grants him mercy and a place in His Paradise.
