KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: In fulfillment of the pledge he made during his open meeting with editors-in chief of various newspapers in December 2024 to secure a decent life for the Kuwaiti citizens’ wives whose nationalities were revoked under Article 8, the acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah chaired a meeting yesterday with leaders of government agencies to follow up on facilitating procedures and completing all transactions related to this group, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef affirmed the need for government agencies to expedite solutions and address the conditions of some cases within this group. He stressed the keenness and readiness of the government to resolve these issues by amending certain laws, decisions, and regulations that may obstruct Decree Law No.158/2024, which amends Article 16 of the Amiri Decree No.15/1959 on the Kuwaiti Nationality Law in a way that ensures a decent life for those affected Meanwhile, the acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi announced during the meeting that the profits from contributions to cooperative societies for this category during the previous period will be disbursed after the end of the fiscal year for each cooperative society.
Furthermore, the acting Director of the Public Institution for Social Security Ahmad Al-Thunayan affirmed that the institution will continue to pay retirement pensions and shares to this category on the specified date, which is the 9th of each month.
In the same context, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Ziad Al- Najem stated that the validity of commercial licenses for business owners in this category will remain in effect unless the owner is subject to any security restrictions. He stressed that if anyone from this category establishes a new company, their maximum share in the new company will be 49 percent of the ownership.
In addition, the office assigned to follow up the Article 8 citizenship affairs affirmed its commitment to continue communicating with individuals from this category who have contacted the office. It highlighted its coordination with the relevant state agencies to receive forms and communications related to this group.
