Kuwait Municipality teams in the Ahmadi, Farwaniya, and Jahra governorates have begun the process of removing temporary event halls that violated regulations, following the expiration of the warning period. In a statement released on Sunday, the municipality explained that the removal teams, equipped with cleaning mechanisms and tools, are involved in dismantling the electricity generators and annexes associated with these event halls. This action is being carried out in accordance with the ministerial decision to remove them.
On February 23, the municipality announced that the removal of these tents would take effect on March 1. Mohammad Al-Mutairi, the Director of the Public Relations Department and spokesperson for the municipality, clarified that the reason for the removal was due to a deviation from the intended purpose for which the licenses were issued. These event halls were initially licensed to provide a social service to citizens for hosting events, but their use no longer aligns with the original intent.
Several event hall owners have requested an extension of the deadline, citing a shortage of workers to help with the removal process. Some owners also reported that certain individuals were taking advantage of the situation by demanding as much as 4,000 dinars to dismantle a hall, a significant increase compared to the previous cost of about 700 dinars.
