KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: Kuwait Municipality is preparing for the extension of public cleaning contracts, covering 96 areas, at a total cost of about KD11.7 million. Sources said the State Audit Bureau (SAB) received nine letters regarding contract extensions from the Municipality; indicating that all contracts are subject to auditing and study, then SAB will present observations or conditions on the contracts before approving the extension request. Sources revealed the highest number of extension contracts, totaling KD 2.1 million, are for areas in Ahmadi Governorate, followed by Capital Governorate with KD 1.650 million and Farwaniya Governorate with KD 1.4 million.
Sources added the following areas will be covered by the extension contracts: Jahra, Salmiya, Bidaa, Rumaithiya, Salwa, Sabah Al-Ahmad, Bayan, Mishref, Mubarak Al-Abdullah, Abdullah Al-Salem, Faiha, Shamiya, Shuwaikh Residential Area, Kaifan, Rawda, Qurain, Mubarak Al- Kabeer and others. On the other hand, SAB rejected the Municipality’s request to pay KD 2.481 million to a company to work on its general archives due to the failure to respond properly to the queries of the bureau. Sources said the bureau asked for a list of all the items that need maintenance, along with information about their technical support status or when it will expire, as well as the updated prices for the same items.
