KUWAIT CITY, Jul 4: Suham Al-Azmi, the Director General of the Kuwait National Library (KNL), emphasized the significance of cultural exchange, coexistence, and interaction between global cultures, highlighting that these are the quickest means to promote friendship, peace, and cooperation among nations.

Speaking to KUNA on Wednesday after visiting the Turkish National Library in Ankara at the invitation of its Director, Ayhan Toglu, Al-Azmi remarked that libraries remain crucial in the history of nations due to their national, cultural, and scientific contributions, which help preserve a nation's standing in the world.

She commended the Turkish National Library's dedication to preserving Turkey's "ancient and rich" history and civilization, and its efforts to pass this heritage on to future generations. She described libraries as "beacons of science, culture, and civilization that reflect the progress of nations."

Al-Azmi noted that the National Library of Kuwait, for the first time, hosted a special section for Turkish books at the end of last April. This section included 330 books in various fields, donated by the Turkish Embassy in Kuwait. She expressed her hope that this initiative would serve as a broad introduction to Turkish culture and a starting point for further collaboration with Turkish libraries and cultural centers.

She also expressed her desire for these activities to pave the way for future cooperation agreements between the National Library of Kuwait and its counterparts in sisterly and friendly countries, aiming to foster closer ties between peoples and showcase Kuwait's tolerant and welcoming culture to the world.
