KUWAIT CITY, June 27: The General Assembly of the Kuwait Olympic Committee held its regular meeting recently at the committee’s headquarters in Hawalli, with 22 federations and specialized clubs present out of a total of 30. The meeting was chaired by the Vice Chairman of the Committee, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Faisal, and attended by Assistant Secretary Ali Al-Marri and the Director of the Committee, Muhammad Khalfan.

During the assembly, the formation of the Ethics Committee, originally headed by the late Dr. Rashid Al-Enezi, was postponed. The committee's term was supposed to run from 2020 to 2024. The formation of this committee will now take place within three weeks to a month through an “extraordinary” general assembly.

The General Assembly approved the meeting agenda and appointed three members to review the minutes: Hani Al-Marshad (Taekwondo), Abdullah Al-Salem (Electronic Games), and Meshal Fulaiteh (Winter Games). Additionally, the assembly approved the report on the activities of the “Olympic” president, the unified and audited budget, and the profit and loss statement, as well as the proposed budget.

Membership applications for the Kuwaiti Modern Pentathlon Club and the Kuwaiti Baseball Club were also accepted during the meeting. Sheikh Mubarak Al-Faisal thanked the members of the General Assembly for their attendance and contribution to the success of the meeting, stating, "All the terms of the meeting were approved, and there was great cooperation from all members."

Sheikh Al-Faisal added, “We are working hand in hand to develop the sports movement and to support our athletes who are qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics. We aim to raise the Kuwaiti flag in archery, rowing, swimming, sailing, athletics, and fencing at this major international event.”
