KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: Chairman of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, reaffirmed his unwavering support for Kuwaiti athletes gearing up for the 19th Asian Games scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.

Speaking at a press conference regarding Kuwait's participation in this event, Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah emphasized the Committee's commitment to backing all athletes. He underlined that participation in the Olympic Games is a cherished aspiration for every athlete, emphasizing the paramount importance of representing the nation with pride across all sports disciplines, effectively embodying the role of ambassadors for their country.

Fatima Hayat, a Kuwait Olympic Committee Board of Directors member, Head of the Women's Sports Committee, and Director of the Kuwaiti delegation to the upcoming tournament, provided further insights. She disclosed that Kuwait will engage in an impressive array of 26 out of the 40 sports featured in the Olympics. The Kuwaiti contingent consists of 193 athletes, with 159 competing in men's events and 34 in women's events.

Hayat elaborated on the diverse range of sports in which Kuwait will participate, including athletics, rowing, shooting, boxing, football, archery, cricket, squash, gymnastics, cycling, karate, swimming, jiu-jitsu, and eSports. Additionally, Kuwait's participation extends to triathlon, diving, judo, tennis, fencing, equestrian events, kurash, chess, wrestling, climbing, taekwondo, and golf.

It's noteworthy that the Asian Games, also referred to as "The Masters," represent a multi-sport extravaganza uniting athletes from across the Asian continent. This quadrennial event is meticulously organized by the Olympic Council of Asia and operates under the guidance of the International Olympic Committee.
