KUWAIT CITY, May 27: Kuwait Para athletics team returned home after participating in the 11th Para Athletics World Championship in Kobe, Japan.

The Kuwaiti Para team had remarkable success, securing two gold medals and one silver medal at the championship. Faisal Al-Rajhi clinched the gold medal in the 5,000-meter wheelchair race, while Faisal Sorour won the silver medal in the shot put competition. These victories ensured both athletes' participation in the Paris Paralympic Games 2024.

World champion Faisal Sorour expressed his joy over his significant achievement in one of the most prestigious global athletics championships. He dedicated his silver medal to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the government, and the people of Kuwait. Sorour also praised the support from the Board of Directors of the Disabled Club, led by Shafi Al-Hajri, for their efforts in overcoming all obstacles to achieve optimal physical and technical readiness.

"Kuwait’s disabled athletes continue to achieve outstanding international results season after season, thanks to the excellent teamwork and dedication of the club’s management. Their constant efforts to develop all sports and provide comprehensive support to players are commendable. We hope to continue this success at the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024," said Sorour.
