KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Omar Al-Omar, emphasized that the ministry is collaborating with Google Cloud to develop an advanced national platform for digital integration. This platform, based on global best practices, aims to securely link government systems in an institutional manner while being scalable to meet the country's evolving digital needs.
Al-Omar made these remarks to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Monday after inaugurating a discussion session for government sector leaders, the "Apigee Roundtable." The session, organized by Google Cloud in collaboration with the Ministry of State for Communications and Information Technology, brought together a distinguished group of leaders and decision-makers from the government sector.
The Minister explained that the project extends beyond its technical aspect, aiming to build an integrated system that offers users a seamless and effective digital experience. This initiative is designed to enhance the user journey and align with the goals of Kuwait's "New Kuwait 2035" vision.
Al-Omar also stressed that the success of this national project depends on close cooperation and ongoing coordination among various government agencies. He noted that each agency plays a crucial role as a fundamental building block in the country's digital integration system.
He highlighted that Kuwait is on the brink of a new phase of digital integration that demands unified efforts and strengthened partnerships to improve government performance and the quality of digital services.
In a similar statement to KUNA, Shaima Al-Terkait, Director of Google Cloud in Kuwait, expressed pride in the partnership with the State of Kuwait through the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA). She emphasized that this collaboration supports Kuwait’s ambitious digital transformation, aligning with Vision 2035. Al-Terkait noted that the partnership aims to empower both government and private institutions with innovative cloud solutions to enhance services and contribute to building a thriving digital economy.
Al-Terkait further explained that the government data and service linkage projects are designed to improve the quality of digital services by establishing a central platform. This platform will enable seamless data exchange between government agencies, accelerating transaction completion, reducing administrative complexities, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Rao Surapaneni, Vice President of Platforms and Applications at Google Cloud, also spoke to KUNA, expressing confidence that the digital integration platform, powered by Apigee capabilities and Google Cloud’s innovative solutions, in partnership with the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), will streamline connections between government agencies. This, he said, will allow the government to offer smoother, more efficient services to citizens and residents.
Surapaneni added that the project would help develop a secure and advanced environment for managing government data. This, in turn, will enhance innovation capabilities in both the public and private sectors and accelerate the digitization process, supporting Kuwait’s goal of building a sustainable digital economy.
