Kuwait Phasing Out Expats in Government Jobs

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 4: The Civil Service Bureau has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing Kuwaitization policy across all government agencies, in accordance with Civil Service Council Resolution No. 11 of 2017.

In an official press statement, the Bureau stated that it continues to monitor the enforcement of the Kuwaitization policy in all government sectors, ensuring compliance with the designated percentages for each job category. It also emphasized that qualified national cadres systematically fill vacancies through the central employment registration system.

The Bureau highlighted that a significant number of expat employees—except for the children of Kuwaiti women—have had their contracts terminated since the policy was first introduced. The remaining few have had their contracts extended until March 31, 2025, upon the request of their respective government agencies. However, no further contract renewals will be granted to expats holding non-specialized positions beyond this date, as Kuwaiti nationals will be fully prepared to assume these roles.
