Kuwait plans new standardized carport designs for public facilities
Kuwait's unified carport project is a step toward modernizing public facilities.

KUWAIT CITY, March 16: Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, the Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, presented a report to the Council of Ministers outlining the progress of the committee tasked with developing unified specifications for carports in public facilities. The report included recommendations and steps taken to initiate the project, as well as a proposal to distribute the technical and engineering specifications, along with a standardized color scheme, to all ministers to ensure consistent implementation across the country's public facilities.

The report highlighted that, in line with the directives of the Council of Ministers to establish unified foundations, standards, and specifications for carports in public facilities, and reflecting the State of Kuwait's vision to enhance its urban identity and aesthetics, a specialized committee was formed. The committee is headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and includes representatives from key agencies such as the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Union of Cooperative Societies, Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Public Works, and the Ministry of State for Housing Affairs.

According to the report, the committee focused on conducting comprehensive field studies to evaluate existing carport designs in terms of aesthetics, functionality, and alignment with engineering and environmental standards. The committee also worked on coordinating efforts between the relevant entities. Through a series of meetings, technical proposals and ideas were exchanged, leading to the development of a shared vision that meets quality and sustainability standards.

The committee recommended that the implementation of the unified specifications begin with cooperative societies, followed by mosques and schools. Prioritization for implementation would be based on population density and the significance of the locations.

The report also emphasized the importance of standardizing the color of carports, as it contributes to a cohesive urban landscape that reflects Kuwait's civilized identity and enhances visual harmony. A carefully selected unified color would lend public facilities a modern character, blending elegance and simplicity while enhancing the aesthetics of urban spaces and reinforcing the country's unique identity.

The report concluded by stating that the committee has already begun implementing the project. This includes adopting unified technical and engineering specifications for carports in all public facilities, ensuring adherence to a standardized color scheme that serves as a visual representation of Kuwait's urban identity, allocating necessary budgets for the various project phases, and establishing monitoring teams to ensure quality execution and long-term sustainability.
