KUWAIT CITY, Feb 2: The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy is in discussions with the Federation of National Industries to explore the possibility of adjusting factory working hours during peak times in the upcoming summer months.
Engineer Fatima Hayat, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Monitoring and Control Centers Sector at the Ministry, explained that the Ministry had received a proposal from the Federation regarding the potential to modify factory hours or reduce production during the summer season to help manage electricity consumption. She noted that ministry officials will hold meetings with the Federation to coordinate efforts aimed at reducing the strain on electricity demand during peak periods, when consumption typically increases.
Engineer Hayat also highlighted the success of the national campaign to rationalize electricity and water consumption, which was launched by the Ministry in May 2023. The campaign led to positive results, notably a reduction in electricity consumption during the past summer compared to the anticipated peak load figures.
She emphasized that the Ministry fully supports initiatives, whether from the government or private sector, that aim to enhance the efficiency of electricity and water usage.
