KUWAIT CITY, Mar 4: The General Department of Execution of Judgments has successfully apprehended two expatriates, a man and a woman, who were sentenced to 15 years in prison for drug trafficking. The convicted individuals were transferred to the central prison—men’s and women’s facilities, respectively—to serve their sentences.
A security source revealed that the arrests were made following a thorough follow-up on final court rulings. Criminal Execution Investigations officers identified the residence of the two expatriates, who were convicted last week, and moved swiftly to detain them. The source confirmed that the expatriates are related and were arrested without resistance. He emphasized that all final rulings are referred to the General Department of Execution for enforcement, with convicted individuals present in court being arrested immediately. In cases of in-absentia rulings, detectives are tasked with locating and apprehending the accused.
In a separate operation, Capital Investigations officers arrested a Kuwaiti citizen in his thirties with a lengthy criminal record, including multiple theft and drug-related cases. The arrest took place during an ambush set up in one of the areas of the Capital Governorate.
A security source explained that the arrest followed a surge in theft cases targeting citizens’ vehicles in sea parking lots and commercial markets. Investigations revealed a consistent modus operandi, prompting the formation of a specialized task force to track down the perpetrator. After days of surveillance and investigation, the suspect was identified as a citizen in his thirties with a history of theft and drug offenses. He was monitored, located, and arrested in the Capital Governorate, with some of the stolen goods found in his possession. The suspect and the recovered items were subsequently handed over to the competent authorities for further legal action.
These operations underscore the ongoing efforts by Kuwaiti security forces to enforce the law and combat criminal activities, including drug trafficking and theft.
