KUWAIT CITY, Jul 17: The World Food Program (WFP) Representative to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Abdulmajeed Yahya, highlighted Kuwait's pioneering role in humanitarian efforts at the national, regional, and global levels. In an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) following his meeting with Anwar Al-Hasawi, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), Yahya commended Kuwait for its significant and valued support of WFP activities.

Yahya noted that Kuwait's leadership in this area is recognized by various stakeholders, including individuals, organizations, and entities. He also praised the Kuwait Red Crescent Society's substantial humanitarian contributions and efforts internationally, particularly in assisting those affected by natural or man-made disasters, emphasizing that this role is widely appreciated.

Al-Hasawi, in a similar statement to KUNA, stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and relations with the United Nations World Food Program. He mentioned that the association aims to develop frameworks to establish the necessary mechanisms for advancing bilateral collaboration with the WFP, with the goal of serving humanity in various countries and regions in need.

During the meeting, they discussed future joint work mechanisms and how to coordinate humanitarian projects to benefit needy local communities, especially in the Gaza Strip and other disaster-affected areas. Al-Hasawi emphasized the association's ongoing efforts to expand and enhance cooperation and humanitarian partnerships with regional and international organizations to achieve its mission and meet the needs of those deserving of such humanitarian projects.
