Kuwait Prepares for Rising Temperatures as Mid-Spring Season Approaches

KUWAIT CITY, April 27: The Ajari Scientific Center announced that summer is gradually approaching, marked by the first signs of the end of the mild spring season known as the "Kanna" season. In a press release, the center stated that the "Kanna" season will begin on Tuesday, April 29. This period signals the onset of summer and lasts for 39 consecutive days, divided into three phases: "Al-Rasha" (also known as "Batn Al-Hut"), "Al-Shartayn," and "Al-Batina," each lasting 13 days.

The center noted that with the arrival of this season, the sun's rays become more intense, temperatures rise sharply, and noticeable changes occur quickly. It explained that the "Kanna" season represents a transitional phase between spring and summer, characterized by exhausting heat, increased movement of dust and dirt, and the possibility of rain.

Additionally, the center pointed out that by the middle of the "Kanna" season, the "Sarayat" period ends—a time that may still see sudden rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, and occasionally hail. It further mentioned that during this season, the Pleiades star cluster disappears from view, only to reappear on June 7, according to traditional calculations, signaling the conclusion of the season.

The statement also highlighted that at the beginning of "Kanna," bird migration starts, while the middle of the season sees a sharp rise in temperatures, the end of the rainy period, and the conclusion of the "Summer Square," which brings increased dryness and higher temperatures.
