KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: A year after His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah assumed power, the State of Kuwait has embarked on a new era of development, based on a strategic vision that reflects the steadfast commitment of its wise leadership to continue the nation’s growth and prosperity. This year has been filled with major events, milestones, and initiatives that have placed the interests of the nation and its citizens at the forefront, crowned with enlightened values, national unity, and a drive to enhance development in various sectors. Kuwait made a historic leap with the assumption of power by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, who began a new era by reinforcing the principles that have always defined Kuwait such as adherence to the law and the Constitution, advancing the wheel of development, and ensuring the security and stability of the nation.

His Highness the Amir has demonstrated wise leadership, and has been steadfast in protecting Kuwait’s achievements and consolidating its prominent role in various sectors. Guided by his vision, Kuwait will continue to be a model state that relies on established values and is driven by limitless aspirations toward a brighter future.

After His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad took the constitutional oath on December 20, 2023, he delivered the Amiri speech in which he outlined Kuwait’s future vision. In his speech, His Highness affirmed the importance of upholding national and constitutional principles to combat corruption and further strengthen Kuwait’s leadership role both within the Gulf region and on the global stage.

His Highness the Amir affirmed the importance of protecting the unity of the nation and working to advance Kuwait in line with the aspirations of its people. In his speech, he criticized the performance of both the legislative and executive authorities, particularly regarding issues that have negatively impacted the country’s interests, such as unfair appointments, the national citizenship file, and amnesty. His Highness firmly rejected any form of quid pro quo between the two authorities for personal gain. He also announced sovereign decisions, including the temporary suspension of appointments, promotions, and transfers, to ensure justice and fairness in a manner that serves the best interests of the country.

Gulf Visits One of the most prominent milestones in the first year of His Highness Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad’s leadership was the strengthening of joint Gulf action and visits that enhanced integration among Gulf countries. In February and March 2024, His Highness the Amir undertook official visits to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, marking a key milestone in Kuwait’s foreign policy. These visits were met with warm receptions, both officially and by the public, which refl ect the high regard in which His Highness the Amir and Kuwait are held by their Gulf brothers. The visits featured military parades, technical exhibitions, and cultural displays, with His Highness being awarded the highest honors by the GCC leaders in recognition of the deep fraternal ties between the nations. They reaffirmed His Highness’s commitment to a renewed vision for Gulf integration, positioning it as a safety valve against regional challenges in a way that enhances Kuwait’s role in consolidating cooperation among Gulf nations. This vision builds on the legacy of Kuwait’s previous leaders and strengthens its role in regional unity.
