KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: Kuwaiti triathlon athlete Abdulla Al Refae qualified for the World “Iron Man” championship to be held in Kona Island, Hawaii on 8th of October. Al Refae qualified after clocking 9.56 hrs/min and created a new Kuwait record. Swedish Triathlon is an event divided with swimming, cycling and running non stop 226 kms. The race was held in the Swedish city of Kalmar, ranking 28th in his age group of 35-39 years, which qualified him to play in the World Championship.

Al-Refae dedicated this achievement to the Kuwaiti people, the Federation and the Kuwaiti Triathlon Club and all those who stood with him and supported him during the last period, whether from family, friends or sponsoring companies, considering that his qualification for the world championship is an achievement for Kuwaiti sports. He stated that training camp in Thailand with coach Mohammad Al-Sabbagh prepared him for the Swedish Champions.
