Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ambassador to Kuwait, HE Rami Tahboub, has emphasized that the Palestinian people and the leadership will not allow the displacement of Palestinians from their land and sacred sites. He reaffirmed the legal and political jurisdiction of the State of Palestine over the Gaza Strip and all occupied territories. In a press statement, Tahboub reiterated that the Palestinian people have clear national goals: “No to occupation, no to annexation, no to displacement.” He called on the international community to continue its support for these goals, which he described as essential for peace, security and prosperity in the region.” Tahboub also stressed the immediate need to stop Israeli aggression, ensure a complete ceasefire, and demand Israel’s full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. He called for better management of aid distribution and the provision of temporary shelter while confirming that the Palestinian government is prepared to handle these tasks progressively without displacing any citizens from Gaza. He thanked the government of Kuwait, particularly His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti government for their strong stance against the displacement of Palestinians, which was reflected in the statement by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tahboub also urged the international community to support Palestine’s efforts and work towards a comprehensive political solution, one that honors international legitimacy, the Arab peace initiative, and Palestinian statehood with East Jerusalem as its capital. In related news, Israel said on Thursday it has begun preparations for the departure of large numbers of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip in line with US President Donald Trump’s plan for the territory. Officials meanwhile said Egypt has launched a diplomatic blitz behind the scenes to try and head off the plan.
The Trump administration has already dialed back aspects of the proposal after it was widely rejected internationally, saying the relocation of Palestinians would be temporary. U.S. officials have provided few details about how or when the plan would be carried out. In a social media post on Thursday, Trump said Israel would turn Gaza over to the United States after the war and that no U.S. soldiers would be needed for his plan to redevelop it. The Palestinians have vehemently rejected Trump’s proposal, fearing that Israel would never allow refugees to return. Egypt has warned that an expulsion of Palestinians would destabilize the region and undermine its peace treaty with Israel, a cornerstone of stability and American influence for decades. Saudi Arabia, another key U.S. ally, has also rejected any mass transfer of Palestinians and says it will not normalize relations with Israel - a key goal of the Trump administration - without the creation of a Palestinian state that includes Gaza. Trump and Israeli officials have depicted the proposed relocation from war-ravaged Gaza as voluntary, but the Palestinians have universally expressed their determination to remain in their homeland.
