KUWAIT CITY, June 29 : The Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) announced that Kuwait has been ranked first in the Communications and Information Technology Sector Development Index (IDI) for 2024, issued by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), for the second consecutive year. In a press statement, the Commission highlighted that the evolving index instills confidence in foreign investors, encouraging them to invest in Kuwait, create jobs, and transfer expertise. This is crucial for diversifying the country’s sources of income.
The statement also mentioned that the IDI index measures the potential for safe Internet usage in terms of coverage and affordability. The report noted that 99.7 percent of individuals and 99.4 percent of families in Kuwait have access to the Internet through subscriptions with Internet providers or telecommunications companies. Furthermore, the index comprises two pillars and ten indicators. The Commission serves as a liaison between data and international organizations specializing in the communications and information technology sector. (KUNA)
