DOHA, Dec 10: The Kuwait team resumed its training camp in Doha, Qatar, following a 1-1 draw with Yemen in a friendly match held at Al-Duhail Stadium. The match, part of Al-Azraq’s preparation for the upcoming “Khaleeji Zain 26”, saw Yemen take the lead in the 84th minute through Abdul Majeed Sabara before Salman Al-Awadhi secured a last-minute equalizer for Kuwait. Al-Azraq’s Ali Khalaf missed a penalty in the first half.
The Khaleeji Zain 26 will take place in Kuwait from December 21 to January 3. Before returning home, Al-Kuwait is set to play two friendlies against Lebanon on December 12 and 15 in Qatar.
Argentine coach Juan Pizzi utilized the match against Yemen to assess key players returning from injury, including Youssef Nasser, Mashari Ghannam, and Reda Hani.
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Montenegrin coach, Miodrag Radulovic, announced his squad for the friendlies against Kuwait. The matches will serve as part of Lebanon’s preparations for the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, where they will compete in Group C alongside Yemen, Bhutan, and Brunei Darussalam.
Lebanon’s squad includes Mustafa Matar, Mahdi Khalil, Ali Al-Sabaa, Qasim Al-Zain, Muhammad Safwan, Khalil Khamis, Muhammad Al-Haik, Hussein Al-Zain, Hussein Sharaf Al-Din, Nassar Nassar, Muhammad Al-Husseini, Jad Samira, Ahmed Khair Al-Din, Ali Tanish, Jihad Ayoub, Muhammad Haidar, Hassan Kurani, Rabie Ataya, Ali Qassas, Zain Fran, Sami Marhej, Malik Fakhro, and Leonardo Shahin.
