KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22: The Kuwaiti School Sports and Education Union delegation has departed for the Bahraini capital, Manama, to participate in the International School Games, held from October 23 to 31 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. The event brings together 3,674 athletes competing in 26 different sports. Kuwait’s delegation, led by Faisal Al-Maqseed, President of the Union, will compete in four sports: athletics, judo, archery, and gymnastics. The delegation consists of 45 members, including 28 male and female athletes, along with 17 technical, administrative, medical, and referee staff.

Faisal Al-Maqseed emphasized that the return of Kuwaiti school sports to international events is a significant achievement attributed to the Union’s Board of Directors, technical committees, and the administrative and technical teams that have contributed to the successful implementation of the Union's strategy, Our Talents in Our Schools 2021-2026.

He added, "We have made significant progress through the timely execution of this national project, which has earned praise locally, regionally, and internationally. Kuwait’s presence in external school sports has grown, and the results achieved at the recent Arab School Championship in Cairo 2023 place a great responsibility on us to continue achieving successes that contribute to the legacy of Kuwaiti sports. One of the Union's main objectives is to discover talents and supply clubs and national teams with skilled athletes, as well as capable administrative and technical staff."

Al-Maqseed highlighted that participation in the International School Games offers a valuable opportunity for student-athletes to showcase their talents, compete on a global stage, and achieve personal and national accomplishments. He stressed the importance of encouraging all students to take part, benefit from this unique experience, and form new friendships with peers from around the world.
