A Kuwaiti player goes for a spike as an opponent defends during the West Asian Volleyball Championship match between Kuwait and Syria.

UAE, Aug 19: Kuwait youth volleyball team achieved its second consecutive victory in the preliminary round of the Second West Asian Volleyball Championship, currently taking place in Al Ain, UAE, and running until August 25. Kuwait secured a well-deserved win by defeating Syria in straight sets, 25-13, 25-16, and 25-15.

This victory raises Kuwait's tally to six points, placing it at the top of the standings alongside Bahrain, whom it will face today in the final match of the preliminary round. Syria and Qatar have two points each. The draw for the "West Asia" Championship placed the Kuwait team in Group A, alongside Qatar, Yemen, Syria, and Bahrain, while Group B includes UAE, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia.

Following Yemen's withdrawal from Group A before the start of the championship, the remaining four teams have already secured spots in the quarter-finals. They are now competing to determine the group standings.
