Traffic resumes in Kuwait int'l Airport after unstable weather suspension

KUWAIT CITY, May 23: A Kuwaiti meteorologist forecast Monday that weather conditions in the country will gradually improve as of tonight with light dust in air until Tuesday morning. Speaking to KUNA, Dherar Al-Ali of Kuwait Meteorological Department, said the dust seen by the country since Monday noon led to almost zero-visibility in several areas, indicating that the dust was associated with active wind at 60km per hour. He appealed to the public to follow the Department's social media accounts for reliable information.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Education stressed that study will continue normally on Tuesday (tomorrow) in all grades, based on the Department's report. In a press statement, the ministry affirmed keenness on students' welfare and safety, as well as the continuation of the educational process and exams.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced on Monday resumption of traffic in Kuwait International Airport at 5:50 pm local-time after it halted for two hours and a half due to the dust storm that struck the country this afternoon. The arriving and departing flights have been rescheduled, Deputy Director General for Air Navigation Services Affairs at DGCA Emad Al-Juluwi said in remarks to KUNA. The weather conditions in the country was affected by the dust storm, which caused low visibility to less than 500 meters in some areas, accompanied with active fast winds that reached more than 60 kilometers per hour.(KUNA)
