KUWAIT CITY, Jan 15: The fourth relief flight from Kuwait took off on Wednesday, heading to Damascus International Airport, carrying 40 tons of food and shelter aid to support the most vulnerable groups in Syria. This mission is part of the "Kuwait by Your Side" campaign.

The relief flight is organized by the Peace Charity Society in coordination with the Ministries of Social Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and Defense, with the Kuwaiti Air Force involved in the operation.

Before the plane's departure, the Director General of the Peace Charity Society, Hamad Al-Aoun, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that this is the first flight launched by the society. The mission comes in response to high-level directives to provide assistance to Syria, especially with the growing need for essential life supplies.

Al-Aoun emphasized that Kuwait’s longstanding humanitarian role in supporting those in need worldwide has prompted Al-Salam Charity to join the "Kuwait by Your Side" campaign, as well as its winter campaign, which includes 10,000 tons of aid for countries like Gaza, Syria, Yemen, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. He mentioned that the charity is also preparing to send land trucks with additional relief supplies in the coming days.

He further noted that coordination with the official bodies from the Ministries of Social Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and Defense is ongoing, and efforts are being made to add Al-Salam Charity flights to the schedule via the Kuwaiti air bridge to Syria. The goal is to deliver vital aid urgently to those in need.

Meanwhile, Yousef Al-Furaij, the media official of Al-Salam Charity, told KUNA that the charity’s involvement in the Kuwaiti airlift reflects both official and public solidarity with the people of Syria. He revealed that the shipment includes 3,082 blankets, 449 different types of clothing, and over 30 tons of essential food supplies such as dates, pasta, beans, and other staples for families in need.

Al-Furaij explained that the identification of the specific needs is done in coordination with the Syrian Red Crescent, highlighting the role of official bodies in facilitating the humanitarian tasks.
