KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, through the Fish Market Center (Sharq) in the Control and Trade Department, approved the prices for local and imported fish sold at auctions yesterday, which ranged from KD 5 to KD 118 per basket or code (ten kilograms).

The Director of the Commercial Control Department Faisal Al- Ansari explained that the fish price inspection and monitoring teams at the Sharq Market Center conducted an inspection tour of the market at dawn on Wednesday.

They reviewed the latest price developments in the auctions and approved the new prices which ranged from KD 5 to KD 118 per basket or code (ten kilograms) for local fish, and KD 5 to KD 100 per basket or code for imported fish.

The prices for a basket of Kuwaiti silver pomfret ranged from KD 43 to KD 118.
Shrimp prices vary, ranging from KD 18 to KD 65 per basket depending on the type.
A basket of jumbo shrimp costs between KD 50 and KD 65, Umm Naira shrimp between KD 53 and KD 60, and Shahamiya shrimp between KD 18 and KD 30.

Also, the price for a basket of Orange Spotted Grouper fish ranges from KD 12 to KD 16.25, Tigertooth Croaker KD 15 to KD 32 per basket, Silver Grunt KD 10 to KD 25 per basket, Yellowfin Seabream KD 20 to KD 50 per basket, Cobia KD 15 to KD 35 per basket, Spangled Emperor fish KD 15 to KD 25 per basket, crab KD 8 to KD 30 per basket, and Sobaity seabream KD 8 to KD 15 per basket.

Regarding the prices of imported fish at the Sharq Market, Al-Ansari explained that a basket of Silver Pomfret ranges from KD 40 to KD 85, and a basket of Grouper ranges from KD 14 to KD 35. The cost for a basket of shrimp varies between KD 10 and KD 100 depending on the type. A basket of Jumbo shrimp costs KD 90 to KD 100, Umm Naira shrimp KD 45 to KD 50, Shahamiya shrimp KD 15 to KD 20, and farmed shrimp KD 10 to KD 15. The cost for a basket of Orange Spotted Grouper ranges from KD 5 to KD 12, Tiger tooth Croaker KD 17 to KD 24, Silver Grunt KD 7 to KD 18, Yellowfin Seabream KD 20 to KD 27, Spangled Emperor KD 4 to KD 11, and Sobaity Seabream KD 8 to KD 21.
