CAIRO, April 27 (KUNA): Kuwait’s shooting team claimed its first gold medal at the Arab Shooting Championship in Cairo, winning the 10m air rifle mixed team event on Sunday.
Team head Abdullah Al-Barakat told KUNA that shooters Ali Al-Mutairi and Ritaj Al-Ziyadi secured first place, earning the gold medal in the competition.
Al-Barakat praised the high level of marksmanship displayed by all participating teams and noted that Kuwait’s medal count has now risen to seven.
The championship, which features around 300 shooters from 19 Arab countries, will continue until May 1.
Earlier, Kuwait’s shooting team clinched two bronze medals in the air rifle events at the Arab Shooting Championship held in Cairo. With this achievement, the team has now secured a total of six medals, including two golds and four bronzes.
In a statement to KUNA, Abdullah Al-Barakat, head of the Kuwaiti shooting team, confirmed that Ali Al-Mutairi, Abdullah Al-Harbi, and Saud Al-Subaie won the bronze in the men’s 10-meter air rifle competition. Meanwhile, Maryam Al-Ruzzuqi, Retaj Al-Ziyadi, and Fajr Al-Dhubaib secured the bronze in the women’s 10-meter air rifle event.
The competition, which saw the participation of approximately 300 athletes from 19 Arab countries, continues to showcase the talent and dedication of the region’s shooters.
