KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: The Kuwaiti Special Olympics delegation has departed for the UAE to establish a training camp and participate in the Special Olympics Middle East and North Africa 2024 Regional Sailing Competition. The event, scheduled from October 2-7, will take place at the Dubai Sailing Club. Kuwait’s delegation consists of four athletes: Suleiman Al Nasser, Nawaf Awad, Abdul Rahman Al Kandari, and Manaf Al Wahib. The team is led by Sadiqah Al Ansari, Secretary General of the Ambition Club, with Naif Al Hada serving as the administrator and Habab Al Hami as the coach.

Sadiqah Al Ansari emphasized that this marks the first time the Special Olympics is participating in sailing, under the framework of unified sports and inclusion, where Special Olympics athletes compete alongside their non-disabled partners. She highlighted the significance of these competitions in fostering a positive environment that promotes social empowerment and integration for people with disabilities. Through these inclusive sports activities, athletes with intellectual disabilities, represented by Suleiman Al Nasser and Nawaf Awad, compete alongside non-disabled athletes, Abdul Rahman Al Kandari and Manaf Al Wahib, in a spirit of cooperation and shared achievement.
