Kuwait strips five of citizenship for fraud

Kuwait to revoke citizenship in 90 cases following Nationality Law review.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 12: The Council of Ministers has issued a decision, which was published in the official gazette ‘Kuwait Today’, to revoke the citizenship certificates of five individuals and anyone who may have obtained citizenship through dependency, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

This step is based on Article 21 bis A of Amiri Decree No. 15/1959 concerning the Kuwaiti Citizenship Law and its amendments. The article states that Kuwaiti citizenship can be withdrawn if it was granted unlawfully due to fraud, false statements or incorrect certificates. The Council of Ministers shall issue a decision in this regard as per the recommendation of the Minister of Interior.
