Kuwait Suspends Ration Cards for 4,000 Amid Citizenship Withdrawal Cases

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 10: Informed sources have revealed that over 1,800 individuals whose Kuwaiti citizenships were recently revoked had previously received construction support worth 30,000 KD, provided by the government for residential plot owners. Authorities are now auditing cases where revoked citizens may have also received housing loans of up to 70,000 KD from the Credit Bank.

Officials at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry are reviewing records to identify those who benefitted from construction subsidies and are preparing a detailed report for the relevant authorities. Measures under consideration include halting or partially stopping construction support payments for individuals whose citizenship was withdrawn before or during the disbursement process.

Separately, the Ministry of Commerce has suspended around 4,000 individuals, including beneficiaries and their dependents, from the state ration card system following the withdrawal of their nationalities. These actions reflect a broader effort to ensure that financial and material benefits, including subsidies and rations, are limited to valid citizens, as well as to tighten controls on transactions in state institutions and banks
