KUWAIT CITY, Oct 9: The General Traffic Department has confirmed that all types of driving permits are now available in digital format through the Ministry of Interior’s electronic application. However, these digital permits apply exclusively to expatriates.
In an announcement on its official account on the "X" platform, the Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector stated that, as part of the Ministry of Interior's ongoing digitization efforts, the printing of various driving permits (including those for fare services, on-demand fare services, driving instructors, public buses, mobile fares, individual driving instructors, and vans) has been discontinued. The digital version accessible through the Ministry of Interior (MOI) app is now sufficient for these purposes.
A security source further clarified that these digital permits are currently for expatriates only. However, an exception is made for truck drivers who frequently travel outside Kuwait for work, allowing them to continue carrying physical driving licenses and permits due to the nature of their jobs.
