KUWAIT CITY, Nov 9: The Ministry of Health in Kuwait has opened the country’s first specialized simulation lab within the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Farwaniya Hospital. This initiative, led by Dr. Amal Khedr, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Departments Council at the Ministry and Head of the College of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialization, aims to train medical staff in advanced surgical techniques, including laparoscopic procedures.
Dr. Khedr announced the lab's inauguration during the opening of the "5th Scientific Club for Obstetricians and Gynecologists" conference, hosted by Al-Adan Hospital in collaboration with Kuwait’s chapter of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Ministry's Obstetrics and Gynecology Council. Attendees included leading international medical experts, further fostering global knowledge exchange.
In her remarks, Dr. Abeer Al-Thaidi, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Al-Adan Hospital and representative of the Royal College, revealed that the new Maternity and Childhood Hospital in Al-Adan will open soon, featuring one of Kuwait's largest in-vitro fertilization (IVF) units. The facility, spanning 14 floors with specialized wings and advanced surgical suites, is set to enhance maternal healthcare with state-of-the-art medical equipment and specialized care for women and children.
This scientific event, which includes three sessions featuring the latest advancements in women’s health, awards participants seven accredited points by the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialties. Eight esteemed international doctors and experts are attending, sharing their insights with local practitioners to strengthen global cooperation in women’s healthcare. Additionally, an exhibition of the latest medical technology and two workshops on cutting-edge techniques are being held alongside the conference.
Dr. Bashar Haddad, President of the World Academy of Regenerative and Cosmetic Gynecology, praised Kuwait’s rapid advancements in obstetrics and gynecology, emphasizing that such progress aligns Kuwait’s capabilities with top international medical standards, particularly benefiting women’s and children's health.
The Ministry’s commitment to these initiatives highlights Kuwait’s continued progress in women's healthcare, demonstrating a proactive approach to providing comprehensive care and training opportunities for the nation’s medical professionals.
