Kuwait Takes Steps to Combat Academic Fraud with New Verification Agreement

KUWAIT CITY, April 27: The Ministry of Higher Education has signed a cooperation agreement with Quadrabay Verification Services, a leading international company specializing in verifying academic and professional qualifications from their primary source. The agreement was signed in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nader Al-Jalal.

In a press statement on Sunday, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry, Lamia Al-Mulhim, described the agreement as a significant step in the ministry's efforts to ensure the integrity of academic qualifications, particularly in the medical sector. She emphasized that the agreement reflects the ministry's ongoing commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and professionalism in the equivalency of academic degrees, which in turn strengthens public trust in professional competencies.

Al-Mulhim explained that the agreement’s first phase will focus on verifying the academic and professional certificates of medical personnel from their primary source. This primary source verification (PSV) will help safeguard the healthcare system by ensuring that only qualified professionals are employed in the sector.

She further noted that this cooperation would streamline the certificate equivalency process, reduce the prevalence of academic fraud, and mitigate risks associated with hiring unqualified personnel. The introduction of a reliable digital verification platform will minimize human intervention, thereby enhancing efficiency and maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity in the recruitment of medical staff.

Additionally, the agreement aims to strengthen the institutional partnership between the Ministry of Higher Education and regulatory bodies, further enhancing Kuwait's international reputation as a country that adheres to rigorous professional verification standards.

Al-Mulhim emphasized that, under the leadership of Minister Dr. Nader Al-Jalal, the Ministry of Higher Education is committed to continually developing verification and accreditation mechanisms that align with Kuwait's broader vision. This initiative is part of Kuwait's broader commitment to building a modern educational and regulatory system based on transparency and governance, serving the public interest while ensuring the highest standards in accreditation.

The collaboration with Quadrabay Verification Services is a major step forward in the ministry’s drive to enhance the credibility of academic qualifications and maintain the integrity of Kuwait's education and healthcare sectors.
