KUWAIT CITY, April 1: Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, accompanied by Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, visited the Abdali, Salmi, and Nuwaiseeb land border crossings on Monday to inspect operations and discuss future projects aimed at enhancing the infrastructure and efficiency of these ports.
According to a press statement from the Ministry of Interior's Public Relations and Security Media Department, Sheikh Fahad and Dr. Al-Mashaan reviewed upcoming projects designed to improve the infrastructure of the border crossings by integrating the latest technologies. These initiatives are expected to speed up processes and provide an advanced environment for the various agencies working at these crossings.
The statement further detailed that Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef received an explanation from Dr. Al-Mashaan regarding the plans and mechanisms for developing the border crossings. He was also briefed on the operational procedures, including traffic flow management and the functioning of the General Administration of Customs and vehicle inspection processes.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef emphasized that the border crossings are crucial to the state's operations, serving as the main gateway and the first point of contact for visitors. He stressed the importance of developing these crossings to the highest standards to improve both security and service efficiency. He also highlighted the need to incorporate modern technology into border crossing systems, aligning with Kuwait's vision for digital transformation and enhancing government efficiency. The goal is to adopt smart solutions that expedite inspection and customs clearance operations, while ensuring the safety and security of transit.
Sheikh Fahad also reaffirmed the government's ongoing commitment to supporting infrastructure development at the border crossings. These projects aim to align with technological advancements and provide a state-of-the-art working environment for the concerned authorities. The goal is to enhance the efficiency of managing entry and exit traffic and strengthen Kuwait's position as a key regional commercial and trade hub.
The Acting Prime Minister conveyed his Eid Al-Fitr greetings to the members of the Ministry of Interior and the General Administration of Customs at the crossings, expressing his appreciation for their dedication to maintaining national security while working away from their families during the holiday.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef commended the efforts of the security and customs teams, emphasizing the importance of working together to improve performance and achieve the goals outlined in Kuwait's future vision for border crossing development.
During the tour, Sheikh Fahad and Dr. Al-Mashaan were accompanied by several key officials, including Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Ports Security Affairs Brigadier General Atef Al-Habashi, Director General of the General Department of Land Ports Security Brigadier General Ali Al-Bannai, Director General of the General Department of Coast Guard Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Sabah, Director General of the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media Brigadier General Nasser Abu Salib, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport Eng. Khaled Al-Asimi, and Acting Director General of the General Administration of Customs Mutlaq Al-Enezi.
