Kuwait to Execute Eight Convicted Murderers in First Death Sentences of 2025

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 18: Eight individuals convicted of murder are set to face execution tomorrow, Sunday, at Kuwait's Central Prison, according to a security source. The executions come after the completion of all legal proceedings, including final rulings by the criminal, appeals, and cassation courts, and subsequent ratification of the sentences.

The source revealed that the convicts include six Kuwaiti nationals (5 males and 1 female), one Egyptian individual, and a Bedoun (Stateless). The Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the Departments of Correctional Institutions, Criminal Evidence, the Criminal Execution Prosecution, and relevant judicial authorities, has finalized all necessary preparations for the executions. The process will be overseen by specialized doctors from the Ministry of Health to ensure proper protocol is followed.

This will mark the first round of executions carried out in 2025. Previously, the Central Prison executed six murder convicts on September 5, 2024, and seven individuals in November 2022.

The Ministry emphasized that the implementation of these sentences reflects the enforcement of final judicial rulings, ensuring that justice is upheld after all legal avenues have been exhausted.
