KUWAIT CITY, March 19: The Ministry of Education affirmed on Wednesday its continued efforts to finalize a contract with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to implement a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing Kuwait's education system in line with the best international standards and practices.
In a press statement, the ministry explained that this initiative aligns with the directives of Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, who is committed to improving the quality of education, refining curricula, and qualifying teachers according to the latest educational methods. This effort is expected to have a positive impact on the future of education in the country.
The ministry further clarified that the anticipated cooperation with the OECD will cover several key areas to develop Kuwait's education system, including conducting reference studies for curriculum standards in mathematics, science, and English. The collaboration also aims to support the ministry in designing and implementing teacher licensing tests, which will enhance the educational process and improve the professional performance of teachers. This partnership will allow Kuwait to benefit from the experiences of other countries in the field of education.
Additionally, the contract with the OECD will support Kuwait's participation in the PISA 2029 test, one of the most important international assessment tools for evaluating student performance and comparing it with global peers. This participation will help improve the quality of education in Kuwait by aligning it with international standards.
The ministry also highlighted the cooperation with the Ministry of Finance to complete the final procedures for the contract, a move that reflects the integrated efforts of various government ministries to accelerate progress in line with the political leadership's vision for global alignment and education quality improvement.
Experts from the OECD are expected to visit Kuwait in the near future to begin preparations and coordination with a specialized team from the Ministry of Education. This team was formed following Minister Al-Tabtabaei's decision and is headed by the Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Education Sector, with the involvement of key educational leaders and specialists.
The team will include the Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Activities, the Director of the Curriculum Development Department, the Director of the Coordination and Follow-up Department for Public Education, the Director of the Public Relations and Educational Media Department, and the General Supervisors for Mathematics, Science, and English Language. Also included in the team will be the Acting Director of the Educational Affairs Department in the Farwaniya Educational District.
The ministry reiterated its unwavering commitment to improving the quality of education and developing curricula to create an educational system that meets modern challenges. This initiative aims to provide an educational environment that contributes to building a distinguished generation and further developing society.
The OECD, established in 1961, serves as a forum for governments to exchange experiences and seek solutions to common economic and social issues. With approximately 50 member countries, the OECD promotes policies that enhance the economic and social well-being of people worldwide.
