Kuwait to observe World Physical Therapy Day on Sept 14 with focus on lower back pain
Hana Al-Khamees, head of the Kuwait Physical Therapy Association

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 4: Hana Al-Khamees, head of the Kuwait Physical Therapy Association, has announced that the association will mark World Physical Therapy Day on September 14, instead of the official date of September 8. This year's celebration will focus on "Lower Back Pain" and aims to raise awareness among citizens and residents about the causes and treatment of this common issue.

In a press statement, Al-Khamees revealed that physical therapy specialists and association members will be available at the event from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The Kuwait Physical Therapy Association, which is the official representative of Kuwait in the World Confederation for Physical Therapy, is dedicated to highlighting the role of physical therapy in managing diseases and injuries.

Abeer Al-Tajli, Secretary-General of the Physical Therapy Association, noted that recent global statistics show that at least one in every 13 people suffers from lower back pain. This condition is a significant cause of work absenteeism and sick leave, making it a crucial focus for the association's awareness efforts.

Al-Tajli added that the association is preparing various activities to commemorate the International Day. These include providing advice and guidance on lower back pain, conducting informational tests for participants and visitors, performing "The Slump" test to assess back pain, and evaluating body alignment, including shoulder, hip, and foot levels. The goal is to identify potential causes of lower back pain and promote the benefits of physical therapy in addressing this widespread issue.
