The Public Authority of Manpower officials mark World Humanitarian Day at the Expatriate Workers Shelter Center.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: The Public Authority for Manpower plans to open a shelter for male expatriate workers in the last quarter of this year, similar to the existing facility for women.

Aseel Al-Mazid, Director of the Public Relations and Media Department and the official spokesperson for the Public Authority for Manpower, announced, “The last quarter of this year will witness the opening of a shelter for male expatriate workers, which will be fully integrated and similar to the women’s center.”

In a statement to Al-Akhbar channel during an event celebrating World Humanitarian Day, organized by the authority at the Expatriate Workers Shelter Center, Al-Mazid explained that the current Expatriate Workers Shelter Center for female residents is the first of its kind in the Gulf and Middle East region. Established in 2014, it has a capacity for 500 residents and recently introduced an immediate entry service as part of its offerings.

Al-Mazid detailed that women can enter the center through two methods: voluntary entry or through referrals from embassies or public benefit associations. The center provides various services, including shelter, meals, and recreational and psychological support.

She added that the center currently houses 102 women and 10 children, with the number of residents fluctuating as individuals regularly enter and exit the facility.
