Kuwait U-17 team heads to Jordan for Arab Championship

KUWAIT CITY, June 30: Al-Qadisiya Club has signed Dutch professional Thijs ter Horst to join the first volleyball team for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. Al-Qadisiya management decided not to renew the contracts of Brazilian player DeAlma Moreira and Venezuelan player Willner Rivas but has renewed the contract of Bahraini coach Reda Ali following its successful performance last season, in which it won the Federation Cup title. Training for the Al-Qadisiya volleyball team is set to begin early next month.

Meanwhile, the national junior volleyball team departs today for Amman, Jordan, to participate in the first Arab Championship for junior teams under 17 years of age, scheduled to be held until the twelfth of this month.

The delegation is headed by Assistant Secretary of the Volleyball Federation Nayef Al-Khamili and includes Abdullah Al-Rayes Adria, national coach Khaled Al-Mutairi, his assistant Meshal Al-Sabti, Egyptian physiotherapist Ahmed Fouad, referee Ahmed Al-Balushi, and 12 players: Walid Al-Shammari, Ahmed Al-Sarhid, Salem Al-Shammari, Saad Al-Failakawi, Abdullah Al-Ali, Nasser Al-Sanea, Bandar Al-Ahmad, Salem Khadada, Muhammad Al-Dhahabi, Mishari Al-Mutawtah, Muhammad Al-Dukhi, and Muhammad Al-Huwaidi.

National coach Khaled Al-Mutairi confirmed that the team has prepared well for the Arab Championship through an intensive program that began in early May. The initial phase involved narrowing down the list of players selected by the technical staff in coordination with the training committee and national teams. The training program focused on all physical, technical, and tactical aspects, as well as tactical application and establishing a stable starting lineup for the upcoming tournament.
