Kuwait U-19 secures first point in the West Asian Championship

TAIF, June 30: The Kuwait U-19 national team earned its first point in the West Asian Championship by drawing with Yemen 1-1 in the third round of the first group competitions. The tournament is being hosted in Taif, Saudi Arabia, from June 25 to July 5.

Kuwait took the lead through Youssef Al-Majed midway through the first half, but Abdul-Aziz Masoum equalized for Yemen in the 30th minute. Kuwait’s team is ranked fourth in the group, while Yemen has 5 points, trailing the leading Saudi team on goal difference.

The Kuwaiti delegation is scheduled to return today after the conclusion of the West Asian Championship. It will resume local training before leaving on July 17 for a training camp in Serbia, which will continue until August 6. This camp will prepare them for the Asian Cup qualifiers, hosted by Kuwait in September. In these qualifiers, Kuwait will compete in Group C alongside South Korea, the UAE, Lebanon, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
