KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: Faisal Al-Maqseed, Chairman of the School Sports Federation and Higher Education, announced plans to collaborate with the UAE Federation for School and University Sports in organizing joint sports championships in 2025. He also emphasized ongoing efforts to expand cooperation in various sports initiatives.

Al-Maqseed revealed that work is underway to establish a "Gulf School Sports Federation," modeled after the Gulf Football Federation and other regional federations. This initiative aims to achieve strategic goals, foster Gulf-wide collaboration, and identify young talents in schools, enhancing their abilities to support the regional sports ecosystem. The ultimate vision is to integrate these talents into Gulf sports teams, aligning with the Gulf Cooperation Council's vision that "the future is Gulf."

He highlighted ongoing preparations for school championships, including increased coordination and the exchange of expertise. These efforts aim to implement sustainable sports programs, adopt best practices, and develop students' competitive skills to achieve talent discovery and empowerment goals.

Al-Maqseed expressed gratitude to Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE Minister of Sports, for his support in advancing school sports initiatives in the UAE.

He also discussed a recent meeting with Ali Masri Al-Dhaheri, a key figure in international university sports federations, during the Zain 26th Gulf Cup in Kuwait. The meeting explored collaboration on school and university sports programs, aligning with Kuwait's "Our Talents in Our Schools" strategy for 2021-2026. Al-Maqseed shared optimism about extending this strategy across Gulf federations, citing strong support from Gulf sports leaders.

He concluded by noting that Gulf countries’ strategic plans for enhancing school sports activities will yield significant and sustainable benefits, contributing to the development of a unified and robust Gulf sports vision.
