Kuwait University greenlights work-study combo in accordance with Public Universities Council.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 2: Dr. Fayez Al-Dhafiri, the Official Spokesman for Kuwait University and its Acting Secretary-General, announced the approval of combining work and study. This decision aligns with the accreditation granted by the Council of Public Universities and is based on the resolutions of the Civil Service Council No. (10) of 2023, as outlined in the approval No. (3/2023) during the June 2023 meeting.

Al-Dhafiri clarified that this authorization allows employees to pursue work and study simultaneously at their own expense without the need for official leave or a scholarship. However, compliance with the specified regulations and conditions within the decision is mandatory.

He highlighted that the internal regulations of the Council of Public Universities, detailed in Clause (12) regarding meeting procedures, emphasize the need for unanimous approval from council members for a decision to take effect. Consequently, the Kuwait University Council, during its meeting No. (5/2023) in November, endorsed the cancellation of Clause (27) from the admission and transfer policy for the academic year (2023/2024). This particular clause previously restricted employees from combining work and study unless they provided evidence of securing initial study leave, a scholarship, or a full sabbatical, particularly if the entity is not affiliated with the Civil Service Commission.
