KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5: Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Abdulwahab Al-Awadhi, has issued a decision approving updated executive regulations for Law No. 31 of 2008 concerning premarital medical examinations. The move, announced on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, aims to enhance healthcare services, protect public health, and reduce the prevalence of genetic and infectious diseases in Kuwaiti society.
A key amendment in the new regulations is the expansion of medical examinations to cover all marriage contracts in Kuwait, regardless of whether both parties are Kuwaiti, one is Kuwaiti, or both are non-Kuwaiti. This measure is designed to ensure the health and well-being of all individuals entering into marriage.
Additionally, the updated regulations introduce digital applications to streamline certain premarital medical examination procedures, making the process faster and more efficient for applicants.
The new regulations will come into effect on April 1, 2025, following their publication in the official state gazette.
