KUWAIT CITY, Nov 7, (Agencies): Kuwait is expected to experience active, dust-raising winds accompanied by scattered light to moderate rainfall and occasional thunderstorms from Saturday afternoon until Monday morning. In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Director of the Meteorological Department Dhirar Al-Ali explained that the country will be affected by a surface low-pressure system accompanied by a humid air mass, along with an upper-level low-pressure system. These weather conditions are expected to increase low and medium cloud cover and trigger active southwesterly winds carrying dust.

Horizontal visibility could fall below 1,000 meters in some areas, while sea waves are expected to exceed six feet. Cloud cover will gradually increase from Saturday afternoon, with cumulonimbus clouds bringing scattered rainfall that may occasionally develop into thunderstorms. Rainfall is expected to range from light to moderate. Al-Ali indicated that weather conditions are forecast to improve gradually starting Monday morning.

He advised people suffering from asthma and allergies to wear face masks when going outdoors, particularly when necessary, amid the expected rainfall and increased humidity. Al-Ali urged citizens and residents to follow the Meteorological Department’s official website, mobile application, and social media accounts for the latest weather updates. Meanwhile, the Al-Ojeiri Scientific Center has announced that the third phase of the Al-Wasm season, known as Al-Ghafr, will begin on November 11 and last for 13 days, reports Al- Seyassah daily. The phase marks the start of the second half of the Al-Wasm season, during which temperatures gradually begin to decline. In a press statement, the center explained that Al-Ghafr is the seventh phase of autumn and is characterized by a noticeable drop in temperatures, while daytime weather remains relatively pleasant.

The nights become longer as daylight hours decrease, with the Asr (afternoon) prayer reaching its earliest time of the year. Also, nighttime hours exceed 13 hours during this period. According to the agricultural calendar, this phase is considered ideal for planting various winter crops, as well as fertilizing palm trees and preparing the soil around them. The center highlighted several notable characteristics of this phase, including the first signs of winter and cooler nighttime temperatures while daytime conditions will remain mild, with increased wind activity, rougher sea conditions, and lower seawater temperatures during the morning.
