Kuwait prepares for rainy weekend twist amidst cold nights

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: The Meteorological Department (MD) has forecast that the weather in Kuwait over the weekend will be moderate to warm during the day and cold at night, with a chance of scattered rain, which may sometimes be thundery. The rain is expected to begin on Friday evening and continue intermittently until Saturday morning.

Dharar Al-Ali, Director of the Meteorological Department, told KUNA that the country will be affected by an extension of a low-pressure system, accompanied by a moderate air mass and light variable winds, gradually shifting to light to moderate southeasterly winds, which may occasionally become active.

Al-Ali added that the weather on Thursday will be moderate, with light variable winds gradually becoming light to moderate southeasterly, blowing at speeds between 10 and 38 kilometers per hour. Some high clouds are expected, with maximum temperatures ranging from 20 to 22 degrees Celsius. The sea will be light to moderate, with waves between 1 and 3 feet.

He noted that Thursday night will be cold and partly cloudy to cloudy, with southeasterly winds blowing at speeds between 10 and 35 km/h. There is a chance of scattered light rain later, as well as light fog in some areas. Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 7 and 10 degrees Celsius, and the sea will be light to moderate, with waves between 1 and 4 feet.

Looking ahead to Friday, Al-Ali said the weather will be moderate to warm, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and southeasterly to southerly winds, sometimes active at speeds between 15 and 50 km/h. There is a possibility of scattered light rain and dust in exposed areas. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius, with the sea remaining light to moderate, with waves between 2 and 6 feet.

Friday night will bring colder weather, with skies becoming cloudy to partly cloudy. Southeasterly to variable winds will be light to moderate, sometimes active, blowing between 8 and 40 km/h. There is a chance of scattered rain, which may be thundery at times. Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius, and the sea will be light to moderate, with waves rising between 2 and 6 feet.

Al-Ali concluded that Saturday's weather will be moderate to warm, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies. Winds will shift from southeasterly to northwesterly, light to moderate in speed, and may become active at times, blowing between 12 and 45 km/h. There will be a chance of scattered rain, which may also be thundery. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius, with the sea remaining light to moderate, with waves between 2 and 6 feet.

Saturday night will be cold, with light to moderate northwesterly winds blowing between 12 and 38 km/h. Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius, and the sea will remain light to moderate, with waves between 2 and 5 feet.
